Below are a few essays I wrote at various periods in my university education. The first one is the final paper of my graduate program in counseling psychology. It backs up with empirical evidence my philosophical arguments for liberated learning environments. Most of the studies referenced were also noted in Alfie Kohn’s highly informative book Punished by Rewards: the trouble with gold stars, incentive plans, A’s, praise, and other bribes. A later section in chapter five of The Psychology of Liberty and especially chapter five in Complete Liberty Inside Out include and expand upon its insights.
